Valletta International Baroque Festival 2020 edition
Valletta International Baroque Festival with The Coleridge Boutique hotel is going to do its 8th edition. And what better way to discover a baroque city than to associate it with the sounds of its music!
One of the richest and most diverse periods in music history, the Baroque age gave us composers such as Bach, Vivaldi and Handel, as well an explosion of new musical styles. Not to be forgotten the introduction of the concerto, the sonata and the opera.
The Valletta International Baroque Festival will take place from 10 to 25 January 2020 in Valletta. It will feature artists from Malta and around the world. From the wonderful music of Monteverdi to Bach and beyond, classical and reworked pieces will be performed in 16 venues out of 31 concerts.
Highlights include Propora vs Handel, which will open the event with the expected Baroque ballet. For example, Bach Reworked at Palazzo Parisio, La Grande Chapelle at Co-Cathedral Saint-Jean and La Belle Danse, a baroque ballet. The latter will be held at the Archaeology Museum to close the event.
This is a splendid way to discover the history of Valletta, one of the most beautiful European cities, by the music that inspired its architecture. A good way to bring people together under the theme of culture for this new year.
